Notes for IKENABY:
[DavisBrewer_GM.FTW]
A Choctaw Indian Chief. Other spellings: Ikkenaby, Iklenaby.
From Susan Riddell, 4 Dec 00: On May 7, 1831, Ikenabi filed for permission to stay in Mississippi for 5 years and become a citizen and not be removed to Oklahoma.
While he wanted to remain in Mississippi and become a citizen, he emigrated. A prof. Choctaw researcher (now deceased) furnished me with documents to indicate Ik. did, indeed, go to Oklahoma---June Carney Pollard, email 1 Jul 02.
Jim Carney of Eumundi, Queensland, Australia has an interesting Carney Family Ancestry at www.jhcarney.com. He includes Ikenaby and hypothesizes that he married Sallie Ann Carney and assumed her surname. He also discusses several John Carneys, father, son and gson. This site merits the interest of all Carney researchers. As I now understand this work Ikenaby was the father John, the son was the John Carney who fathered Sarah who married Moses Rials and the gson John is the one who went to Alabama.

Some of Jerry Kin by tradition(according to Darrell) maybe as he says he lived in Marion County MS, part of which was Lawrence County, MS. Which is where the John Carney Line of MS and LA comes from, However note this, Legend and our research confirms legend so far, that the father of John Carney of MS is Choctaw Indian Ikenby (Angliced spelling) married an orphan Sally Carney taken in by maybe her TN cousins) and changed his name to John Carney as the child is named as well. This couple had as far as we can find a daughter named Sally who married George Rials of same counties.Children of this family (Moses Rials married A Carney )Any ties to early Carney will come thru Sally possibly)
