Bill Massey, II (Mar 8, 2005)
This Joseph3 (Joseph2) may also be the Joseph to whom, in 1766, 600 acres was granted on the Tyger River in what was then Tryon County, North Carolina. After the final survey of the North Carolina southern border, that part of the Tyger River was found to be in Spartanburg District, South Carolina (Old 96th District). Spartanburg adjoined the Indian lands to the west that became Greenville and Pendleton Cos. by 1789. Abbeville County, not contiguous to Spartanburg,, adjoined Pendleton to the south.
