No proof that I know of (that Paschal James S. is son of Stephen Henry Shackelford, Jr.). And very unlikely. In addition to my research, Judge Edward Smith and his brother, Hester, who combed those counties in GA year after year, thought it most likely that it was Henry Shackelford of Elbert Co.; that Joe Henry Shackelford was named in the old custom of Joseph for Hickman mother's father, and Henry for the Shackelford father of Paschal. Also, there was a Paschal family in Elbert for him he was named (maybe mother).
============================================
Paschal James Shackelford and Zadock Daniel Shackelford (per "Our Colonial Ancestors", sons of Henry Shackelford) first appeared in Jefferson County, Alabama soon after statehood.
============================================
Henry Shackleford, Jr., was set down on the muster rolls at the Mango hick Episcopal Church, in King William County, Virginia, as soon as he was sixteen years of age. The Shacklefords are found in the Episcopal Parish records, and it is most likely that Henry was baptized in the Mango hick Episcopal Church as a baby, since the church was located only three miles from the Shackleford home. However, it is believed that Henry, Jr, later became a Methodist, hence the naming of his son after the well-known Methodist evangelist of that day, Lorenzo Dow. John Jones testifies in the Henry Shackleford, Jr., pension papers that "Henry prayed and exhorted in public for many years."
