Joseph HICKMAN (RIN: 739), son of William HICKMAN and Mary "Ann" HAYNES , was born 15 November 1787 in Rowan County, North Carolina. He married Martha "Patsy" PULLEN 19 March 1807 in Wilkes County, Georgia. He died 19 June 1861 in Pickens County, Alabama.

Martha "Patsy" PULLEN (RIN: 1054), daughter of William PULLEN and Mary HAYNES , was born 03 August 1790 in Wilkes County, Georgia. She died 30 November 1873 in Home of P.A. Hickman, Tuscaloosa County, Alabama.

Joseph Hickman, son of William and Ann Hickman, was born in Pendleton District, Anderson County, South Carolina on Nov 15, 1787 per his Bible record and the Jeff. County, Alabama census record of 1850.

Joseph Hickman was in the War of 1812 from South Carolina which is where the Hickmans and Pullens had moved. Joseph came with John Brown to Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama in 1818. Thereafter, the family lived much of their adult lives in Birmingham (then called Elyton) Alabama.
