"The Alabama Baptist" issue No. 99 of August 2, 1845, contained the obituary of William Pullen as follows:
"Another Revolutionary Soldier gone
Died at his residence, in Jefferson County Ala. on the 5th April, WILLIAM PULLIN, aged eighty eight years, two months, and one day. The deceased was a native of Bedford County Virginia. He engaged in the cause of his country at an eary perios of his life, for liberty, under the immediate command of the immortal Washington, and was with him at the battle of Brandywine, and Monmouth; he was also in the battles of Germantown And Guilford C.H., besides many others of less importance. After the close of the toils for independence, he removed to Wilkes county, Georgia, from thence to Pendleton Dist., S. C., and about the year 1822, he removed to this county, where his earthly remains now rest. He was followed to the grave by weeping relations, and mourning friends, and interred with the honors of war. As to the private character of the deceased, all can testify who knew him. He was an honest upright man; esteemed and beloved by all who know him, and doubtless a good chrristian, and has gone to that home not made with hands, eternal in the Heavens.
The home of the christian where pilgrims are blessed And where the exiles of earth forever shall rest. P.A. Hickman."
