Notes for Thomas GALLOWAY:
BIRTH: Estimation since son Robert was born about 1770. Thomas is mentioned in several North Carolina S tate Land Grants in Brunswick County, North Carolina., filed in the Secretary of State's office in Raleigh , North Carolina. One of these grants, which was never surveyed, was issued to Thomas Galloway and Juda h Swain. Just what relationship this suggests in unknown. Perhaps a relative of Jonathon Swa in who lived nearby.
DEATH: Brunswick County, Court Records, Minutes of Court of Pleas and Quart er Sessions, 1782-1786, 1789-1801, Vol I, (Wilmington, North Carolina, 1992) p. 4 says that Pescillah (si c) CHURCH came in Court and Prayed an order to sell so much of the perishable part of the Est ate of Thamas Gallaway as well pay of(sic) the debts thereof. Granted. (Court date 15 Sept 17 82. Last referred to in "The Colonial Records of North Carolina, by Wm. L. Saunders, Vol 10 , p. 393-394, where he was "to continue at some convenient place near the New Inlet, in order to be ready to pilot in any vessels which may be allowed to trade in this province" 19 Ja n 1776.
I served as proxy for his endowment in the Atlanta Temple.
