Dear John A.
Although when John Youngblood, Jr. petitioned for a land grant in GA where he had been for "some time", he said he had seven children, he probably had more as that was in 1771 and he was only 37 years old. But we only know for "absolute sure" that he had one, Abraham, who got land from his father, John, and when he sold it he said in the deed to a John Allen "the former residence of my father, John Youngblood". The deed of John Jr. to Abraham is in Bk. E, p. 419 and the deed of Abraham to John Allen is in Book N, p. 21.
Now the Supreme Court has said that circumstantial evidence is "not intrinsically not different from direct or testimonial evidence" in Holland versas U.S., 348 U. S. Reports, beginning p. 121. This was a criminal case based on circumstantial evidence.
So if circumstantial evidence is good enough for a criminal case it is good enough for a civil matter. So I think the circumstantial evidence is good enough to include Joshua Y. as a son as he married another daughter of Daniel McNeil and John Y. signed with him getting the license. I think that James is also circumstantially proved to be a son as he was a witness to the sale by John (Miles) Youngblood of his home in Johnston Co., NC and came with his presumed father to GA. Abraham and the children of Joshua are named in the will of Daniel McNeil along with Amey McNeil who m. Abraham Y.
It would be most appreciated if you would eliminate George as a son of John Jr. if you have it that way, for my notes show that George was the son of Peter. Our best to you and Meg!! Dewey

As the Youngbloods I have encountered left no wills, my branch was most fortunate that Abraham, when selling his land in Columbia, referred to his property as the "former residence of my father, John Youngblood". It was part of the original grant that John Youngblood, Jr. got on Little Kiokee Cr. (the grant says "Jr.". Although Jr. can sometimes refer to the fact that there is an older John in the neighborhood, I think the evidence, in its totality, shows that in this instance because John Sr. applied for a grant in GA around the same time, and got one, that he was John Sr. of Old Baltimore Co., MD.
